The Gemstone: Citrine

Citrine is a golden-yellow member of the quartz family and is November’s birthstone.

Its name originates from the French word citron, meaning lemon, which aptly describes citrine's hue that varies from light yellow to a deep golden.

They are also one of the most desired and frequently purchased yellow gems. The ancients believed that citrine’s bright sunny color withheld the power of the sun and therefore linked the gem to positivity and happiness.

It was believed that wearing citrine would bring prosperity and abundance in all fields, especially business. Hence, it came to be known as 'the success stone' or 'the merchant’s stone.' The stone was also used as a talisman and was worn to enhance creativity.
